In fairness, the turnout of Lib Dem activists here in Glasgow East has been pretty good, with leaflets flying off of the shelves, and surprisingly little tea being drunk - Andrew Reeves is running his usual tight ship.
I've been leafletting in Carmyle, the home suburb of our candidate, Ian Robertson, and then taken part in a little meet and greet session with Agnes and Craig, two voters who'll be voting Liberal Democrat today.
I've been impressed by Ian, whose genuine nature has clearly made an impression. Hopefully, he'll get an opportunity somewhere more promising, perhaps in the Scottish Parliament next time.
Glasgow East has been given a fairly negative press, and one might think that I've spent the afternoon dodging burnt out cars from everything that has been printed. And whilst parts of the constituency might be on the grim side, Carmyle is a fairly normal suburb, where the tenants take a pride in their homes and gardens. If only the media would look beyond the easy headline...

Hah! Then all our worries would be over and all would be fairies and rainbows and the pubs would run with free ale for all (but the barmaids would be getting wages an order of magnitude higher than their current ones)!
Sadly Mark with the three week timescale and both my co-workers having planned vacations before the resignation I was unable to take any weekdays off for this campign :(. One success for Labour they kept the Livingston and Dunfermline carthorse confined to stables but for weekends with the shortness of the campaign and the time of year.

My apologies for not making myself clear. My gentle criticism is aimed at those south of the border, of whom precious few showed up. I know that it's a long way from London, but all the same...
No need to apologise Mark, I'm sure a lot of us were in a similar situation I know of many of the Scottish activists who were on holiday or heading off when this election was called. Or like me were stuck in work having to cover for collegues who had already pre-booked their holidays.
For those who had come up from down south, who I saw in the signing in book if not in the flesh, ain't that always the way they did a sterling job from what I heard.
Just realised that my soft toy has written a well rounded response on my behalf.
