  1. A very impressive list - the secretaries for Children and Transport seem especially appropriate (as well as Baroness Rigg and the Prime Minister, of course).

I can't think why you have me down as Minister for Shouty Enforcement. On the other hand, being in charge of the Olympics suits me fine - in these days of "tough choices," I'd announce that, as a celebration of individual achievement and international competition, politics should have nothing to do with them, handing all power to the athletes and extending no government interference whatever. Or money.

It's not just because I wouldn't want anything sporty, honest...

I ought to do one of these myself, but the only one I can firmly make up my mind on is Conrad Russell for Prime Minister (sorry, Millennium).

  2. Bernard,

I'm delighted to defer to you on that. After all, as an Englishman, albeit with a mother from Keith, it would be wrong of me to dabble in Scottish politics...

  3. Yippee! Bernard and I can work on introducing STV for the Scottish Parliament elections:-)

I'm assuming that we have a small majority in Westminster, so introducing it for UK elections might take longer, but we'll do it for Holyrood at least:-)

  4. Sadly, my Lady, that job is gone, but I don't see why you couldn't sit on it from time to time...

  6. Thank you for your faith in me. I now feel I may be able to deal with rodents as well as children in the ministerial portfolio.

Badly, of course, but why buck the trend of the last few decades.

  7. How can I remain jealous of Anthony Sheen if I get Hillsborough Castle as a G&F? Although the nephews will enjoy seeing Uncle Stephen more and playing in the Gardens.

Although obviously I'll not be claiming any of the mountains of camomile tea required to keep Peter Robinson and Martin Maguinness calm on expenses.

But just so long as I don't have to deal too often with the MP for the constituency I went to secondary school in. She may try and cure me!!! :-0

  8. Hmm... responsible for negotiating budgets with departments. I can see that'll be fun:

"Right, let's open with.. zero. Your move"

    I won't let you down :)

  9. @ Alex - well quite, surely if they want to have an Olympics, these athletes can raise the money, perhaps through a series of sponsored walks? :D
